What is the Minimum Age to Rent a Car in the UK?

The minimum age to rent a car in the UK depends on the type of vehicle. At Abacus Vehicle Hire, we accept drivers aged between 21–74 years, with the following restrictions:

  • Ages 21 to 24 – Must hold a full driving license for at least 2 years.
  • Ages 25 to 74 – Must hold a full driving license for at least 1 year.

Drivers under 25 may also be subject to additional surcharges or restrictions depending on the vehicle.


License Requirements
